The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Staff Development and Learning Assistant with excellent training and organizational skills, to support the training and development activities.
The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweetpotato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. CIP works with partners to contribute high quality science, technology, and capacity strengthening for sustainable science-based solutions. CIP is headquartered in Lima, Peru, with staff and activities in over 30 locations across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. CIP is a member of the CGIAR Consortium. CGIAR is a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. Its science is carried out by the 15 research centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations.
The position: The position will report to the SDL Officer and will be based in Lima, Peru. The objective of the position is to support the planning, coordination, monitoring, execution, and localization of training and development activities for SDL.
Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Identify training and development needs of staff in conjunction with line managers, to ensure optimal use of resources and objectives achievement
  • Coordinate the logistics of training activities with HR Staff Development and Learning Officer, including training material and settings to guarantee achievement of training activities objectives.
  • Organize and undertake the execution of training activities in the form of courses, workshops, and seminars to guarantee proper execution of training and development plan.
  • Coordinate the evaluation of training activities to gather information and improve future training deliverables.
  • Coordinate the logistics of individual training and international students.
  • Interact with external training consultants to identify course objectives and content.
  • Conduct training as needed.
Selection Criteria:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, psychology or related field
  • Demonstrated experience organizing and executing training activities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and simultaneously build relationships in multicultural environment
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Basic experience in capturing and editing digital video.
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, exercise sound judgment, and use problem-solving skills in dealing with unexpected situations, often under pressure.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of competencies model (desirable).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to details, and demonstrated ability to multitask and judge priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Integrity, customer service and achievement orientation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English
Conditions: This position is local. Employment contract will be for 1 year, with possibility of extension. CIP prides itself on its collegial and supportive working environment, which allows space for personal and professional growth.
