Lecturer and Course Director in Global Health Policy

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine -Department of Global Health and Development

Faculty of public health and policy
The Department of Global Health and Development is seeking to recruit a full time Lecturer and Course Director. The appointed individual will both serve as a Course Director for our MSc in Global Health Policy while also building a portfolio of independent teaching and research on the global politics of health.
We are seeking candidates with teaching experience, and a grounding in politics/political science (or related discipline), including core disciplinary training in theory and methods at the postgraduate level. The candidate will join the Politics and Policy Group within the Department of Global Health and Development at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine - a world leading institution of learning and teaching, and a constituent member of the University of London.
The MSc in Global Health Policy is one of the world's first distance learning degrees dedicated to Global Health. The Course Director is responsible for shaping content updates and overall management/leadership of the course, expecting to take half the candidate's time.
The bulk of the candidate's remaining time will be dedicated to developing a portfolio of research on the global politics of health. This will involve development of research proposals for external funding, writing papers for publication, and contribution to broader initiatives in the School.
Salary will be on the Lecturer scale Grade 7, £41,627-£47,652 per annum, inclusive.  The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  One half of the position is funded permanently as Course Director of the MSc in Global Health Policy.  The other half of the position is a time-limited strategic investment for 3 years, after which period it is expected that the post holder will have raised sufficient funding to maintain this half of the position.
The post holder will be subject to an initial six month probation period.
