Salary: £27,854- £36,298 pa
Fixed Term Contract for 3 years
You will contribute to the expanding programme of research on the population genetics and genomics of pathogenic bacteria in Warwick Medical School by creating and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines for high-throughput bacterial genotyping and genome sequencing. You will work under the direction of the Professor of Bacterial Population Genetics and will contribute to high quality research in microbial genomics whilst collaborating with a multi-disciplinary group of researchers. You will also be required to teach and assist in the supervision of postgraduate students commensurate with the grade of post.
You will have a PhD in microbiology (or other closely related subject) or will be able to demonstrate equivalent experience (i.e. some independent research and/or publications). Recent experience in handling population genetic analyses involving large numbers of bacterial genomes and of analysing high throughput sequencing data from bacteria is essential as is experience of molecular phylogenetics methods and of relevant programming, scripting and mark up languages ((e.g. C++, Perl and Java, PHP/ XML/HTML). The ability to initiate, plan, organise, implement and deliver programmes of work to tight deadlines are also essential as is the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
