Head of Legal Unit - CPVO - Community Plant Variety Office | France


The candidate must fulfil the requirements set out below.
3.1    General conditions
  •     Be a national of a Member State of the European Union, including Croatia ,
  •     Enjoy his/her full rights as a citizen
  •     Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service,
  •     Produce the appropriate character references as to his/her suitability for the performance of the duties,
  •     Be physically fit to perform the duties,
  •     Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the European Union  and a satisfactory knowledge of another.
Qualifications
a)    a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is four years or more,
Or
b)    a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma and appropriate professional experience of at least one year when the normal period of university education is at least three years,
Experience
To qualify for this profile (AD9), you must have at the closing date for applications total professional experience  of at least twelve (12) years (if you have a four-year degree) or at least thirteen (13) years (if you have a three-year degree). Of your total professional experience at least 5 years must be in management.
 
SELECTION
If the candidate meets the formal requirements set out above, he/she will be assessed in view of selection for an interview and written test on the basis of the following criteria:
  •     The academic qualifications and their relevance to the tasks listed in section 1. “THE JOB” above
  •     Experience in EU law
  •     Experience in the field of intellectual property rights in general
  •     Experience in the field of plant variety rights in specific
  •     Experience in litigation
  •     Ability to draft legal texts in English
  •     Experience in managing staff
INTERVIEW & WRITTEN TEST
The candidates who are judged to be the most suitable on the basis of the criteria listed in 3 & 4 will be called to participate in an interview & written test, both held in English.
If selected, the candidates will be assessed on the following criteria:
  •     Knowledge in EU law
  •     Knowledge in intellectual property rights law
  •     Knowledge on plant variety rights law
  •     Experience in litigation
  •     Written English and presentation skills
  •     Ability to communicate effectively in spoken English
