1 Profile

Reporting to the Head of Unit „Policy and Communications”, the Policy Officer will be part of the “Policy Support and Stakeholder Relations” team. (S)He will support the activities in strategic and policy processes led by the EIT as well as stakeholder relations, including support to the EIT Foundation in accordance with the EIT Financial Regulation. (S)He will contribute to the development of strategic documents including the EIT’s Triennial Work Programme and Strategic Innovation Agenda.
1.1 Tasks
The tasks of the Policy Officer will include:
  • Providing strategic advice and support in policy issues and related processes;
  •  Co-ordinating and contributing to the preparation and implementation of strategic documents such as the EIT’s rolling Triennial Work Programme (TWP) and Strategic Innovation Agenda (SIA), its Annual Work Programmes and Annual Reports;
  •  Establishing and maintaining relations with EIT stakeholders, notably universities, research organisations and businesses, as well as EU Institutions and Member States;
  •  Exploring potential synergies and complementarities with other EU/national/regional initiatives;
  •  Providing the link to the EIT Foundation (EITF), participation in the EITF Working Groups and co-ordination of the EIT’s input.

  •  Co-ordinating input to consultations and queries
Qualifications and experience required
2 Eligibility criteria
2.1 General conditions

By the closing date of this call candidates must:
  •  be nationals of a Member State of the European Union or an EFTA State1;
  •  enjoy their full rights as citizens2;
  •  have fulfilled any obligations imposed by national laws concerning military service;
  •  meet the character requirements for the duties involved;
  •  be physically fit to perform their duties3
2.2 Education
  •  Candidates are required to have a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least four years attested by a diploma, or;
  •  a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of a least three years attested by a diploma together with an additional year of relevant professional experience4.
Only qualifications issued by EU Member State authorities and qualifications recognised as equivalent by the relevant EU Member State authorities will be accepted5. At least one of the university studies mentioned above must be in the field of political science/ European Studies, economics, business administration, public affairs, or law.
2.3 Experience
Candidates must have, at the closing date for applications, professional experience of at least 3 years4 (at least 4 years in the case of completed university studies of less than 4 years), including professional experience directly relevant to the tasks of at least 2 years.
2.4 Language skills
As the official working language of the EIT is English, candidates must therefore have an excellent command of oral and written English. More generally, Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the EU and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the EU6 to the extent necessary for the performance of her/his duties.
