RedR UK Associate Trainers


Due to the expansion of programmes in Kenya, RedR UK are looking for experienced, qualified training professionals to join our pool of RedR UK Associate Trainers. Associate trainers with RedR UK are listed on our consultant database and offered training work as and when needed and paid a daily rate. For this reason we cannot guarantee regular training opportunities. However, given current levels of demand we anticipate there will be many opportunities in the coming months.
In addition to training events our Associate Trainers from time to time work closely with the RedR UK Learning & Development and International Programmes teams to develop new materials, and convene events for humanitarian workers. If you are a training professional with 3 years or more of field based humanitarian experience and you are based in Kenya, RedR would welcome an application from you.
We are particularly looking for trainers with experience and proficiency in security, project management, humanitarian principles and practice or technical areas such as nutrition, WASH, needs assessment, proposal and report writing, monitoring and evaluation, disaster risk reduction and logistics. You will be expected to demonstrate the ability to design and/or revise training curriculum, deliver group presentations, manage group dynamics and enable groups to learn together.
RedR UK has identified the following proficiencies as being desirable in its training teams:
  1. Identify learning needs of Humanitarian/ Development Sector
  2. Analyse organisational learning needs
  3. Identify learning needs of individuals
  4. Develop effective training courses that address needs identified at sectoral, organisational and individual levels
  5. Use lessons learned from previous courses to inform course design
  6. Effectively plan the logistical and administrative arrangements of a training event
  7. Draft training documents for Trainers
  8. Develop learning materials for participants
  9. Develop an inclusive environment conducive to adult learning
  10. Effectively manage a training event and training sessions
  11. Effectively facilitate experiential and active learning activities
  12. Manage group dynamics
  13. Support learning throughout training and provide feedback
  14. Check learners' progress and adapt course as appropriate
  15. Work in collaborative relationships with other trainers
  16. Reflect on and evaluate personal practice and that of peers and identify development needs
  17. Design an evaluation process
  18. Use evaluation feedback during the course to adjust training delivery
  19. Evaluate participants' reaction to training
  20. Use evaluation feedback to inform subsequent course design
  21. Develop a learning assessment process
  22. Develop assessment activities
  23. Assess participants' learning
  24. Assess impact
We would like trainers in the following specific areas:
  1. WASH
  2. Logistics
  3. Humanitarian Principles
  4. Needs Assessment
  5. Disaster Risk Reduction.

Successful candidates will be invited to the Assessment day by Monday 25th March 2013.
