BBC Radio 1 aims to entertain and engage a broad range of young listeners with a distinctive mix of contemporary music and speech; BBC Radio 1Xtra plays the best in contemporary black music, with a strong emphasis on live music and supporting new UK artists. Working closely together the stations look to connect the BBC with the next generation of young audiences and be the leading voice in young UK culture.
You will need to have excellent practical knowledge and skills in using a range of broadcast and office packages, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You will need to be able to prioritise, to use initiative and to work effectively without close supervision and to meet deadlines, often under pressure. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is important, as well as the ability to work in a team environment and to communicate effectively with a range of people and at all levels of the division and wider BBC. You will also need a good understanding Radio 1/1Xtra's audiences and a passion for it's output and divisional objectives.
