Transposition/Infraction Co-ordinator and Business Support to Legal Section

A full-time fixed term position as Transposition/Infraction Co-ordinator and Business Support to Legal Section has become available in the UK’s Representation to the EU (UKRep). This position will be responsible for leading on transposition of EU legislation and infraction co-ordination in UKRep, as well as assisting the Legal Counsellor and three First Secretaries in the day to day running of the office, including full admin support to the section. This is a rewarding role with lots of potential for policy engagement with wider Whitehall and Commission contacts.

Main responsibilities

  • Transposition & Infraction Co-ordinator - acting as the UK Central Manager for two databases used to communicate infraction responses and implementation measures to the Commission, producing guidance, providing training and advising UKRep desk officers and Whitehall co-ordinators/policy leads on related processes, handling infraction correspondence as well as all routine infraction queries and requests for extensions [70%];
  • Business support to Legal Section - responsibilities include team diary and budget management, arranging high-level visit programmes and team networking events, booking video and teleconferences, distributing documents to London contacts, scanning [30%].

Essential skills and experience

  • Excellent organisational skills. Proven ability to work to tight deadlines, plan and organise resources to deliver objectives;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent writing skills. Ability to write clearly and to communicate effectively with different audiences;
  • Ability to show initiative and respond flexibly to changing priorities;
  • Good IT skills with sound working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Fluent English.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Previous experience of working in Government;
  • Previous knowledge of the EU Institutions;
  • Experience or knowledge of infractions;
  • Proven experience in project and time management;
  • Ability to find innovative solutions;
  • Working knowledge of French.
This position will be filled as a fixed term contract. 

Gross monthly salary: € 2286.10 (plus this position currently carries a responsibility allowance).
