Manager, Purchasing - Emissions Management
DESCRIPTION
The Manager, Purchasing is responsible for the daily procurement of materials, handling material price negotiations, serving as a liaison with Estimating to provide standard material costs for bid purposes. This role requires a strong background in Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) and Waste Heat Boilers (WHB).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sources continuously for improved and/or less costly materials and supplies within the classifications assigned
- Recommends to Engineering and Estimating departments, new or different materials and revised designs which the incumbent feels are of better quality or greater procurability or which can be obtained at lower cost
- Visits vendor plants to analyze facilities and capabilities
- Completes each requisition by selecting the vendor, setting the proper price, studying the terms, F.O.B. point, and other buying considerations
- Expedites deliveries and, where necessary, obtains Engineering/Contract Administration approval for alternate methods or materials
- Negotiates with suppliers regarding pricing, discounts, terms of payment
- Ensures that the Price Book is updated and maintained properly
- Responsible for the pricing, procurement and control of assigned commodities
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree / diploma or equivalent experience
- Seven to ten years prior experience in Purchasing
- Knowledge of ASME Code materials and HRSG/WHB auxiliaries
- Good negotiating skills
- Strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills
- Proficient using MS Office software
