Alumni Relations Assistant

The University of Surrey is a global University with a world-class research profile and an enterprising spirit.  The Alumni and Development Office runs an integrated alumni programme to communicate and engage with alumni, friends and supporters of the University and raises philanthropic funding to support the University's strategic priorities. 

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic aspiring marketing or communications professional for a new post of Alumni Relations Assistant. This is an ideal role for someone looking to gain entry into a relationship-marketing or alumni relations role and is keen to learn and develop in a fast growing and dynamic team. 
The Alumni Relations Assistant will play an important role in the Alumni Relations team; whose aim is to engage and involve our alumni with the University of Surrey and create regular and long lasting relationships with this important stakeholder group.  It is a varied role which includes: supporting on the co-ordination and delivery of the events and communications portfolio that makes up the backbone of the programme; assisting in the co-ordination of our recent graduate, international and volunteering programmes; acting as the first point of contact for alumni, providing relevant customer service assistance and managing the day-to-day administration of the team. 

Good organisational skills and excellent written and verbal skills are a pre-requisite for this role, as is good operational knowledge of MS office.  Previous use of web content management systems and social media channels are desirable as is some experience of working in a marketing, communications or alumni office.
