Assistant Purchasing Officer AngloGold Ashanti Limited

AngloGold Ashanti Limited (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents and a highly successful exploration program.  AGA employs over 62,000 people globally.  In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine in WA and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine, also in WA, in which it has a 70% interest and is manager.  Independence Group holds the remaining 30%.  Tropicana, which represents the most significant Australian gold discovery for the last decade, is scheduled to begin production in the December quarter of 2013.

We are now seeking an Assistant Purchasing Officer to join our Legal, Procurement and Supply Chain team in the Perth Regional Office.

Accountable to the Purchasing Officer this role is responsible for providing support to the Legal, Commercial and Supply Chain department with particular emphasis on expediting and purchasing.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

• Creation and maintenance of vendor master data in SAP
• Conduct the expediting process including monitoring and escalation of issues to the purchasing officers
• Ensure the ordered resources delivered to the business meet the requested timeframe
• Provide assistance for purchasing to AngloGold Ashanti operations as required
• Data extraction, creation and distribution of reports
• Creation of SAP requisitions as required, goods receipting and service entry
• Assist Accounts Payable and Purchasing Officers in resolving invoice mismatches or disputed invoices
• General administration such as MS Office document creations, room and equipment bookings, travel bookings, catering, credit card processing

 The ideal candidate will possess:

• Highly developed MS Office skills
• SAP experience essential
• Ability to prioritise and manage work load
• Promote and display a high level of customer service orientation
• Knowledge of Expediting within the mining industry
• Must be eligable to work Permanently in Australia
