Position Summary

Futures Group is recruiting an Associate Editor to provide editing, writing, and production assistance as an integral member of a Knowledge Management and Quality Assurance team. The position will focus on supporting a variety of project publications, including technical reports, briefs, presentations, brochures, and manuals, as well as internal administrative reports and communication materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide substantive editing, copyediting, and proofreading support for project-related technical, communication, and administrative materials
  • Provide writing support, including for new and already drafted publications
  • Provide formatting and design support for project-related materials, including PowerPoint presentations and posters
  • Facilitate coordination with outside vendors (editors, translators, graphic designers, printers, etc.)
  • Provide ad hoc research assistance as inputs to project publications
  • Help to maintain and keep up-to-date the project intranet and website

Skills Required
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of style manuals, such as Chicago, GPO, and AP
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, including MS Word, Excel, and PPT
  • Proficiency with desktop publishing a plus
  • Familiarity with intranet and website content management
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines
  • Interest in international development, especially health issues, including in family planning and HIV

Minimum Education or Experience
  • BA or MA in English, communications, or related field; editorial certification required
  • Minimum 3 years experience in publications editing and production
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Working proficiency in additional languages, particularly French, Arabic, and Spanish a plus
