Job description
IBM Systems and Technology Group (STG) is responsible for IBM’s hardware. IBM Systems are being designed around the core principles of collaboration, openness and virtualisation; essential ingredients of the kind of integrated infrastructure that can move businesses to the next generation of computing — collaborative processing. Collaborative processing is what happens when an organisation transcends its standard organisational boundaries, changing the way people interact with each other and with the IT environment that supports them. The Systems and Technology Group (STG) portfolio includes Mainframe, UNIX and 'x86 Servers, Storage, Networking, System Software and Integrated solutions.

Client Technical Specialists (CTS) are technical consultants to clients, IBM sales teams and/or IBM Business Partners. They understand the client's business requirements, technical requirements and/or competitive landscape. They provide technical sales support which may include: collaborate with IBM sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions; deliver Proof of Concept; develop and deliver technical education; support critical situations; design solutions; and answer technical questions. When engaged for a specific opportunity or project, they are responsible for the technical accuracy of the proposed solution.

There are 4 CTS roles, three of which are focused on Systems Software.
Storage Systems Software - Storage virtualisation and Storage management - IBM SAN Volume Controller,
Systems management of physical and virtual servers - IBM Systems Director
Virtualisation, automation and cloud.
