Commercialization Geophysicist

Description:

The Commercialization Geophysicist for WesternGeco is part of the product development organization for Omega and Petrel software systems and is responsible for product qualification for geophysical and project- or data-management applications.

Responsibilities:

• Test geophysical and project- or data-management tools and workflows.
• Design, organize, and execute test strategy, test plans, and test suites in close cooperation with the development team. Acquire and manage test data required by the test plan.
• Ensure software products meet acceptance criteria according to requirements and specifications.
• Review and edit user documentation for technical correctness, and in some cases produce documentation.
• Find, explore, and analyze technical problems, prioritizing them based on importance to the end user and effect on overall product quality.
• Document and report test results using internal systems for reporting results and tracking defects.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in exploration geophysics preferred.
• Experience in surface seismic data processing.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience processing marine and land data from field tapes through depth imaging and inversion.
• Proven record as self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills.
