Executive Initiatives Intern - Fall 2012

FINCA International, one of the world's leading microfinance institutions, provides financial services to more than 950,000 clients through 21 wholly owned and operated subsidiaries in Africa, Eurasia, Latin America and the Greater Middle East. FINCA International is currently looking for an Executive Initiatives Intern - Fall 2012 (Intern), to be based in Washington, DC. Working closely with staff, the Intern will support the Executive Office across a number of priority initiatives. The Intern will take an active role in the following:

• Research and analyze best practices in the microfinance industry;
• Monitor and summarize news within and related to the microfinance industry;
• Support FINCA’s internal policy development process, including researching, drafting, updating and disseminating FINCA policies for Subsidiaries;
• Support the development of the subsidiary strategic overviews;
• Logistically and technically support high priority Executive Office projects;
• Assist with miscellaneous administrative tasks;
• Other special projects as assigned.

Ideal profile:

• MBA or Graduate Program candidate (highly qualified undergraduate seniors may also apply),
• Fluency in a second language is highly desirable: Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic or Dari are preferred,
• Excellent communication skills, especially writing and editing,
• Exceptional research skills and experience with major research project, thesis, etc.,
• Qualitative and quantitative analysis skills,
• Extensive computer skills (specifically, intermediate Excel proficiency and experience with Visio highly desirable),
• Interest in and knowledge of microfinance, finance and development issues,
• Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and complete projects by deadline,
• Detail-oriented,
• Ability to take initiative and work independently,
• International experience is beneficial.
