International Diabetes Federation Internships 2013


The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an alliance of over 200 national diabetes associations with two million members in more than 160 countries and territories. For over 50 years, IDF has been at the vanguard of global diabetes advocacy. The Federation is committed to raising global awareness of diabetes, promoting the exchange of information about the different types of diabetes, give education support for people with diabetes and their healthcare providers, and encouraging activities towards finding a cure for the different types of diabetes.
General requirements
  • Applicants must be at least undergraduate students who require an internship for their course
  • EU nationality and/or right to live and work in Belgium without a work permit
  • Very good verbal and written skills in English
  • Fluency in other languages is an asset
  • Fast word-processing skills and good command of Microsoft Office
  • Proactive, flexible, good communicator
  • Excellent organisational and team working skills
The following internship opportunities are available as of January 2013:
Communications interns
  • Coordinate IDF’s social media pages and provides input into social media strategy
  • Assist in website updates and postings
  • Undertake research on potential Blue Circle Champions and assist in coordinating outreach strategy
  • Manage IDF database of media contacts; assist in media outreach
  • Assist with production and distribution of communications tools and merchandise to key stakeholders
  • Participate in World Diabetes Day planning and External Relations Department meetings
  • Support communication planning for 2013 World Diabetes Congress
  • Provide further assistance as required to the Head of Communications and other IDF departments; undertake special projects
Special Job requirements:
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills in English
     
External Relations intern
  • Complete a concrete project (consisting of research, analysis and recommendation components) defined by the Income Generation team
  • Provide support for the fundraising activities in cooperation with the Income Generation team members
  • Carry out research on prospects such as corporations, foundations, individuals and other organizations
  • Write company profiles; collect background information on potential partners
  • Support existing fundraising programmes with current partners
  • Assist in the preparation of meetings and events
  • Participate in External Relations Department meetings
  • Prepare internal briefings on industry activities
  • Provide further assistance as required to the Director of External Relations and other IDF departments
Special Job requirements
  • Literature review and analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently on a concrete project and complete it within the internship period
