We are currently seeking a Business Systems Analyst to assist the Information Services Team of PATH Seattle's Shared Services Division. The Business Systems Analyst role supports IT project and sustainment efforts by analyzing and documenting current business processes, recommending process improvements, and developing the user stories and functional requirements needed to ensure that the technology solutions delivered meet the needs of the business.  The Business Systems Analyst will also work with planning and project managers, technical resources, and other business stakeholders to analyze, design and deploy projects.  This position works closely with and reports directly to our Manager of Project Management and Analysis.  Specific responsibilities include:
  • Translate customer needs into user stories, functional requirements, technical requirements, workflow and process change documents.
  • Build strong relationships within PATH to understand the business challenges and opportunities.
  • Create estimates for analysis tasks and deliverables.
  • Work with stakeholders to investigate workflows or business processes to be augmented or enhanced with technology.
  • Plan, facilitate, and conduct user story elicitation sessions, meetings, presentations, and interview internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts as needed to define and analyze business problems and products.
  • Assist with the development of solution-related training content and support training efforts when needed.
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies between user stories and existing or proposed solutions and develop and document recommendations for improvement.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, with skills to represent technology services in a manner that is easily understood by non-technical users and customers.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including leading meetings, presentation skills, problem resolution/mediation.
  • Must be able to adjust work-style to match team or audience, especially when working with non-technical or time-starved resources.
  • Strong initiative; able to self-manage.  Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work through it to get the right things done.  Understands communication channels and escalates appropriately.
  • Strong technical writing skills to develop comprehensive user stories, specifications and documentation for business and software functionality. Must be proficient with modeling and mapping tools (e.g., Visio).
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, computer and information science, or related subject area required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in analysis, multiple software development methodologies, business systems and process engineering, functional analysis and design and training. Demonstrated experience working in an Agile development environment using Scrum, Lean or Kanban. Broad technology background and experience in one or more customer business disciplines preferred. Experience working as an analyst on small to large scale projects having simple to multiple integrations or complexities. Experience operating and interfacing with various levels of management and business stakeholders.
Experience with enterprise applications (grants and contracts management, ERP, CRM, BI, or related systems) and Microsoft products. Experience reengineering workflow and data management processes to maximize efficiency.
