Duties
The Humanitarian Adviser will be employed by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) on an ongoing (locally-engaged) contract basis, following an initial probationary period.
The salary will start at USD 81,673 with opportunities for annual increments based on performance. The terms of employment will be in accordance with the AusAID UN New York contract and AusAID O-Based Guidelines.
The Humanitarian Adviser will work as part of a small team within the Australian Mission to the United Nations to strengthen Australia’s engagement with the UN and contribute to UN effectiveness. 

Eligibility / Other Requirements
This position is an overseas-based AusAID employee, not an Australian Public Service position. The position is full-time to be filled on an ongoing basis.
The successful applicant should possess a current Australian Government security clearance to Secret Level and be available to commence in the role as soon as possible.
Interested applicants must have comprehensive knowledge of humanitarian issues and the role of the United Nations, including UN system effectiveness and reform issues, and excellent knowledge of Australian aid policies.
