Note: PATH is interested in developing a pool of independent contractors/consultants to assist with proposal writing. PATH is building a proposal writer consultant database to support USAID and CDC Request for Applications (RFA) and Request for Proposal (RFP) responses. Consultant applications will be saved in our database and accessed on a needs basis as future opportunities emerge.

The Proposal Writer Consultant is responsible for leading the proposal writing process of the RFA and RFP responses. S/he will work with the technical program and proposal team to help review solicitations, determine strategy for application, and design and write proposals. The writer will ensure responses are compliant with donor requirements, technically clear and accurate, and adhere to PATH style. The PATH point person for this scope of work is the Director, Business Development Support.
Required Skills
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills appropriate for competitive proposal submissions.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret quantitative information.
  • Ability to juggle multiple demands, manage shifting priorities, and negotiate timelines.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (especially Microsoft Word).
  • Demonstrated skill in using terminology related to public health and global health issues.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field with a aaster’s degree in public health or knowledge of public health technical areas such as HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, nutrition, TB, Malaria, etc. is required. A minimum 5+ years experience writing US government proposals and prior experience writing large scale, complex bids for multimillion dollar value with proven success is necessary.
