The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.
We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.
QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors
Position Summary
The Data Management Analyst will contribute to the enhancement, maintenance and business support for the QGC Operations Production Systems. The objective is to ensure that Production Operations have the systems and data quality required for them to be efficient and effective.
Key Accountabilities
Position Specific
Solution Design and Specification
  • Review of business process undertaken by operational roles.
  • Documentation of business process.
  • Identification of business process improvement opportunities.
  • Development of specifications describing the functionality of new business solutions and changes to existing business solutions.
  • Review and approval of specification documents by stakeholders.
Solution Delivery
  • Management of solution testing including logging of test defects and confirming when they have been resolved.
  • Resolution of delivery issues in liaison with development groups.   Delivery issues may include clarification of requirements, raising of test defects and prioritisation to ensure delivery dates are met.
  • Implementation of business system changes including communication and change management.
 Solution Support
  • Investigation of systemic operational issues including root cause analysis.
  • Escalation of issues and following through to ensure resolution.
  • Identification of resolution to systemic issues.
  • Customer and stakeholder liaison during the resolution of issues.
 Solution Funding and Costs
  • Identification of the total solution cost for a proposed business solution over say a 5 year period.
  • Identification of business benefits, both tangible and intangible, required to justify a business solution.
  • Preparation of requests for capital funding for proposed business initiatives.
  • Confirmation of required OPEX funding for existing business solutions for budgeting purposes.
Production System Change Management
  • Assessment of the risk of proposed production system changes.
  • Identification of risk mitigation options where required to reduce risk to Operations.
Production System Ownership
  • Development and maintenance of Business Support Agreements. A Business Support Agreement is the overall business support requirement for a business solution which will be covered by one or more Service Level Agreement (SLA) documents for individual components within the business solution.
  • Resolution of production system issues, escalating to support groups as required.
  • Review of Business Support Agreements, identifying support gaps for resolution.
  • Design and publishing of metrics relating to data quality and production systems.
People Management
  • The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Technical Experience

·         Tertiary qualifications in IT, Mathematics or Statistics - desirable
·         Proven ability to problem solve – especially with regard to technical solutions
·         Strong project management skills and experience with Data and Information Projects in the E&P
·         People facing skills coupled with excellent communications, and the drive and enthusiasm to work as part of the team
·         Confidence to drive Data Management change when needed
·         Advanced knowledge of well based data types
·         Physical data management expertise
·         Proven ability to effectively prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines

Experience
 
·         Experienced Data Management Analyst who has worked on a number of E&P related data management initiatives and projects
·         Understanding of data management practices for all petrotechnical data (SCADA, PI data historian, data quality, data interfacing, data presentation and reporting)
·         Good knowledge of all aspects of petrotechnical data, their use and lifecycle within the business including business solution delivery
Proven ability to design and deliver numerous changes simultaneously within a dynamic production environment.
  • Experienced in the financial justification of capital initiatives and in managing OPEX budgets.
  • Proven ability to identify thematic issues in production systems and assess root causes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to clearly articulate issues and propose recommendations
  • Competent level of knowledge of MS Office packages.
  • Provide insights into the key issues driving the Groups’ Performance
