Job Purpose
 
Our Commercial Performance Analysis function delivers insights that drive tactical and strategic decision making, from long term revenue forecasting to setting targets, pricing decisions and marketing campaigns.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Joining the team, you’ll make full use of your commercial acumen. You’ll enjoy the opportunity to influence leadership teams and individuals at Head and Director level
  • Producing valuable commercial analysis and insight, you’ll make an impact on strategic decisions that will help to shape the direction and performance of our whole business. Your varied responsibilities will range from revenue forecasting to delivering trial business cases
  • Deftly managing the successful delivery of Sales and Revenue Management targets, you’ll adapt the targeting process as required, ensuring goals remain both challenging and achievable
  • We’ll also expect you to lead, coach and develop a small team of analysts
Our four teams cover the below remit of work
  • Analyse revenue performance, highlight relevant issues and provide recommendations outlining appropriate action to be taken (e.g. promotional activity, inventory action or price changes)
  • Play an integral role in the revenue planning process, which delivers revenue targets and forecasts to all areas of the business
  • Input to sales and marketing strategy by providing analysis on the marketplace, cost of sale, marketing budget prioritisation plus customer and distribution initiatives
  • Provide data for and monitor return on investment via relevant tools and analysis
  • Evaluate the performance of different sales areas and channels (e.g. BA.com) and their impact on overall cost of sale
  • Develop insights to form the basis of highly targeted marketing campaigns and communications. ·
  • We use Excel modelling, SAS for data analysis and data mining, Enterprise miner, Business Objects, Teradata SQL
  • Our data covers most aspects of BA business available on databases (e.g., flights information, commercial results, market shares, executive club member behaviour, schedules, margins on ancillary revenues, network plans)
  • We undertake levels of analysis of reporting, forecasting, causal analysis, ad hoc or via tool design

The Individual

  • Your strong analytical ability will be backed by a numerate degree or equivalent, or some experience in a business, sales or other analysis role
  • The ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders through analytical insight, strong communication and compelling presentations is crucial
  • Experience of leading a team will be an advantage, but is not essential, what is, is good people management skills. You’ll certainly demonstrate the capability to manage people - from setting direction and sharing best practice, through to identifying areas for development
  • This role is as much about leading a team to deliver as it is about analytical excellence
  • You’ll have skills in Excel, SQL and SAS – or be happy to learn them – and be as comfortable presenting your findings to stakeholders as you are building relationships across departments
  • The ability to build strong relationships across different departments and stakeholder management is needed in this role
  • Commercial awareness and ability to think creatively and strategically
