Department

BBC Radio Stoke is a successful station with a strong talented team and a busy, diverse editorial area. Part of its success is built on personality led programmes and getting out and connecting with its potential listeners. The station has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, organised, strategic and talented individual who can help us to attract more listeners in a competitive market.

Role

We are looking for someone to lead outreach and promotions – plan and run OB’s, events, raise the station’s profile and persuade the target audience to listen.

You will be enthusiastic and it’s likely you will already be an experienced Broadcast Journalist and aspiring to be a Senior Broadcast Journalist. You will also oversee station sound, organise events and occasionally appear on-air

Requirements

You’ll be creative, a strong negotiator, communicator and instinctively knows how to engage our target audience. You'll be as comfortable talking to potential listeners as you are to Stoke City Council about a potential partnership. Ideally you should also be able to report or present on-air.
We’re looking for someone who shares our enthusiasm and ambition plus the right skills to deliver the project successfully.

A knowledge of Staffordshire and South Cheshire is not essential - but you will at least be able to demonstrate an ability to learn quickly. If you are invited for interview, a short on-air audition will form part of the interview process. Auditions and interviews are planned to be held w/c 8th April.

Please note the application form contains the following additional question:
Outline a promotional campaign for Radio Stoke including treatments to increase its target audience (500 words max).
