Research Associate/Fellow in Cultural Economics

The Centre for Copyright & New Business Models in the Creative Economy (CREATe) has been established with initial funding of £5m from RCUK. See www.create.ac.uk. This interdisciplinary research centre will engage with key research challenges in the creative economy relating to copyright, new business models, and digital transformations. Based at the University of Glasgow, CREATe draws upon a consortium of research expertise from 7 participating HEIs across the UK (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Goldsmiths, Nottingham, St Andrews, Strathclyde and UEA).

This post is a three-year Research Associate or Fellowship that, upon successful completion, is expected to subsequently convert into a permanent lectureship within the University of Glasgow’s Centre for Cultural Policy Research (CCPR), which is located in the School of Culture and Creative Arts in the College of Arts. The main purpose of the post is to extend CREATe’s research capacity with respect to the cultural economics of the creative industries and the cultural heritage sector. The successful candidate will be expected to develop their own research agenda within this domain, as well as collaborating on research initiatives with colleagues across the CREATe consortium. The post will also include some teaching and administrative duties from initial appointment. As well as being a member of CREATe, the appointee will also be a member of CCPR.

Upon converting to a permanent lectureship at the CCPR (upon successful completion) the post will extend CCPR’s research and teaching capacity in relation to cultural and creative industries, with a particular focus on cultural impacts. The post will support expansion of the Centre’s Masters provision into the broad area of cultural industries and cultural management, building on the strengths of CCPR’s existing MSc in Media Management. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate an ability both to conduct high quality research and the potential to teach at PG level in this area.
Closing Date: Tuesday 9 April 2013.
This post is funded for three years in the first instance
