Department

The mission of the Programmes & On Demand team is to power the next generation of BBC online activities and make the BBC a leading online brand as well as making the Future Media division a leading software developer able to attract the best talent from the UK and around the world.

The Programmes & On Demand team is responsible for building consumer-facing products, like BBC iPlayer, BBC channels on the Web, online radio and online music. The team also builds components and services used across the BBC, including search, media playback and social tools.

Though the team’s products already rank among the most popular in the UK, we see a great deal of creativity and growth in the future. In partnership with the BBC’s editorial teams, we will transform the way media is consumed online and create new digital experiences that weren’t possible in a traditional broadcast environment. With the London 2012 Olympics around the corner, this team will be at the centre of innovation for an entirely new way of engaging with the games.

Role

Within the Future Media Programmes & On Demand team, Business Analysis provides a key function within the Product Management group, which is responsible for defining and delivering digital products across PC, Mobile and TV.

The role will primarily support the business requirements of the mobile app versions of BBC Products and core, underlying components and services.

Senior Business Analysts are responsible for product analysis and definition, market and competitor analysis, interpreting consumer and audience research data, and other tasks contributing to the definition and implementation of products within the department. Business Analysts work with Product managers, editorial staff, audience research specialists, project managers and software developers to help define the next generation of the BBC’s digital products.
