As a Senior Product Manager for Mobile Platforms, you will be part of a world class team in transforming the ways viewers consume BBC content.

Programmes & On Demand is responsible for BBC iPlayer and the BBC’s Radio & Music proposition on PC, Mobile and TV. The team also builds services used across the BBC including search, media playback, user authentication (ID) and social. In Salford, the team is focussed on Mobile and Interactive TV product development including building common mobile applications and supporting services.

Though the team’s products already rank among the most popular in the UK, we see a great deal of creativity and growth in the future. In partnership with the BBC’s editorial teams, we will transform the way media is consumed and create experiences that weren’t possible in a traditional broadcast environment.

Role

The Senior Product Manager will work to the Executive Product Manager, Mobile Platforms, to define, create, and maintain pan-genre products for BBC license fee payers on mobile phones and tablets. You will use your expertise in media and technology to promote platform capabilities and opportunities to internal stakeholders within the BBC.

You will constantly use data and research to improve and refine current products while your strategic insights will help redefine the future of online media through journeys and experiences the BBC is uniquely positioned to deliver.

Candidates should have proven experience delivering technology products in close collaboration with engineering teams. Candidates should also be natural leaders who partner strongly with internal and external stakeholders in a variety of roles.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

1. Significant experience of working in a new media production environment
2. Good knowledge of industry standard product management skills, with understanding of product life-cycle and proven delivery of consumer products
3. High degree of internet and computer literacy
4. Ability to work in partnership and actively collaborate with colleagues across the organisation
5. Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate complex processes at all levels. Experience of presenting innovative ideas in order to secure senior management and strategic support
