Associate / Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology

The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital has well-equipped investigative services and provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities.
The Department of Surgery aims to provide the highest quality of surgical care to its patients in accordance with international norms of excellence. There are 10 sub-specialty sections including Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dental-Oral, Maxillo-facial Surgery, General Surgery, Breast Diseases, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.
The department has over 80 full-time and non-full-time faculty members with a commitment to offer extensive academic programmes for medical students, interns, residents and fellows. There are ten residency and four fellowship programmes whihch provide a comprehensive learning experience in surgical disciplines through clinical and didactic sessions.  A core mission is to integrate education and research with clinical services, entailing a full range of surgical treatments including cutting-edge techniques, minimally invasive surgery and state-of-the-art procedures.
Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Associate / Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology.
Responsibilities
The appointee will have independent consultant status and undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and specified administrative activities.
Requirements
​Candidates must have completed postgraduate training and possess FCPS, FRCS, American Board or equivalent with subsequent clinical, teaching and research experience. Subspecialty interest in Vitreo-retina, Orbit, Oculoplastics, Ocular Trauma, or Neuro-ophthalmology will be a strong plus. Further development in such sub-specialty will be encouraged.
Applicants for Associate Professor should have at least 8 years of teaching / research experience in a University or postgraduate institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), with 5 years’ post-terminal experience of teaching. They should also have a minimum of 5 research publications in journals recognized jointly by HEC and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council with at least 2 of these publications in the last five years. Applicants for Assistant Professor should have at least 2 years experience as Senior Instructor/equivalent.
