Postdoctoral position in Pharmacogenetics


Description:  A postdoctoral position is available effective November 2012 in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy to study the genomics of treatment outcome of patients treated with cancer chemotherapy.  The work will be done in the laboratory of Dr. Federico Innocenti.
Requirements:  Qualified applicants must hold a PhD in an appropriate field (e.g. Statistical Genetics, Human Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics) or related fields with less than 3 years postdoctoral training. This position requires experience with applying computational approaches to analyze high-throughput and large-scale datasets including DNA sequences (e.g., next-generation sequencing platforms), whole genome gene expression, or other genome-wide genotypic data. The post-doctoral fellow will have a strong interest in: clinical and preclinical GWAS, gene expression analysis or miRNA analysis, eQTL analysis, copy number variation, gene-gene and gene-environment interactions, functional validation of SNPs, and epigenetic effects.  Applicants should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of a statistical software package such as R, SAS, or Stata and at least one programming language such as PERL, Python, C, or Java. Demonstration of the use of Linux and public bioinformatic tools is also desirable.  Proficiency in oral and written English, including the ability to present data at scientific conferences, and an aptitude for formulating scientific hypotheses are essential for this position.
