Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc (TEMA) is the alignment of Toyota's North American R&D and manufacturing operations, joining the operations, planning and technical functions.  Established in April 2006, TEMA strengthens Toyota's North American customer focus, through improved supplier cooperation, overall speed, flexibility and attention to quality.  TEMA headquarters in Erlanger, KY, house the Toyota Operations Center and the Toyota Planning Center.  The main offices for the Toyota Technical Center are in Ann Arbor, MI.
This position is located in Georgetown, KY.
 
The network architect will be primarily responsible for setting the strategic direction and ensuring support is in place for the network technologies and services that are needed to meet the needs of Toyota's manufacturing, engineering, and administrative functions.
 
Develop strategic direction and build technology roadmaps for the products and services that make up the Toyota North American network.
¨        Facilitates meetings and communication within the section, department, and/or division to help craft proposals to support the strategic direction and receive consensus for moving forward.
¨        Work with project managers and technical resources to develop and execute initial project work plans for new or changing network technologies.
¨        Identifies resources needed, including budget, and assigns individual responsibilities for projects and day-to-day operational support.
¨        Manages resources to support the day-to-day operational aspects of the Local Area Network and associated network products (proxy, load balancers, etc.)
¨        Provide weekly status to management on project and operational activities and escalate issues according to company standards.
¨        Collaborate with vendors to develop and acquire solutions to accomplish the strategic direction and to resolve complex network issues.
¨        Work with technical resources and vendors to develop and process SOWs as necessary to accomplish the strategic direction.
¨        Complete reflection documents and present to management upon project completion.
 
Lead/manage team members.
¨        Team member will lead a team of approximately 2-4 internal contractors to accomplish the strategic direction for Toyota's North American Network.
¨        Team member will manage approximately 5-10 vendors in support of various network products and services.
 
Manage projects
¨        Manage projects to design, plan, and implement new and/or refresh network infrastructure and related products and services at Toyota North American manufacturing, research and development, and   administrative operations.  Duties would include working with vendors and internal departments to prepare Statements of Work, Requests for Information / Proposals, and Bill of Materials for projects up to $5M.
 
Develop network equipment standards and create standardized work for configuring and installing network products and services of a local, regional, and national scope.
Work with vendors and other Toyota entities to benchmark and implement best practices for all network components and infrastructure.
Work with local site support teams to troubleshoot issues that Levels 1-3 cannot resolve.
Work with managed service vendors to troubleshoot, resolve, and document support issues.
Develop 5 year technical roadmaps and strategies for network infrastructure.
Communicate with multiple levels of IT and IS management to propose strategic initiatives and gain approvals to move them forward.
Build project and annual budgets from technical roadmaps and strategies
 
 

Qualifications

 
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science related discipline AND Cisco Certified Network Associate designation  OR Equivalent IS experience
3 years LAN management & associated network products experience
Proficiency in technical (network and associated products) trouble shooting and problems solving skills
Project management experience (to include capability to initiate, lead, manage, and report out status of project with 5 or more team members either internal or external, that design and implement network solutions)
 
Preferred:
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert designation
5 years of LAN management & associated network products experience
Advanced project management experience (to include capability to initiate, lead, manage, and report out status of project with 5 or more team members either internal or external, that design and implement network solutions)
