Value chain advisor , Azerbaijan


Chemonics seeks a value chain advisor for the anticipated five-year, USAID-funded Regional Agricultural Development Program (RADP) in Afghanistan. The program aims to improve food and economic security for rural Afghans, with a focus on improving the production for targeted value chains from the wheat, high-value crop, and livestock sectors. Additionally the program will use a longer-term agricultural value chain approach designed to address sustainability as well as to support policy, legal, and regulatory development. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
* Provide technical leadership to program activities related to targeted value chains 
* Ensure adequate linkages to local public and private sectors stakeholders
* Identify and mitigate program risks, including on-farm water management 
Qualifications:
* Advanced degree in agriculture, business management, economics, or related field required
* Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in implementing large donor-funded agricultural value chain activities, particularly in transitional, Islamic, or post-conflict countries
* Experience developing value chain activities to support farmers and private sector partners with a track record of project design, implementation, capacity building, and working with host governments, local private sector, and other related players
* Minimum five years of progressively responsible program management and implementation experience and developing agribusiness and value chain activities
* Minimum five years of direct supervision of a diverse team of professionals including agro-economists, extension workers, and support staff
* Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
* Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills in English required; Dari or Pashto proficiency desirable
