BBC Northern Ireland’s political unit has a 6 month attachment opportunity. One of the main responsibilities of the role is producing STORMONT TODAY for television and INSIDE POLITICS for radio.

Role

You will also be required to contribute to the weekly TV programme THE VIEW on a regular basis, researching and contributing ideas, conducting pre-recorded interviews and vox pops, preparing briefs, setting up guests and features and producing and editing film sequences. You will be part of a small team and expected to be involved in all of the output as required. We are looking for a high calibre individual who will be totally committed to the successful delivery of outstanding local output including studio and live outside broadcasts.

Requirements

You will have either a recognised journalistic qualification or practical experience in journalism. You must demonstrate first class news judgement. As an integral member of the team you will have a highly developed sense of political awareness with good knowledge of the NI political system and BBC NI’s political output. You’ll have good writing and storytelling skills, the ability to come up with original story ideas and the tenacity to get the right interviewees. Furthermore you’ll have knowledge of production techniques and facilities in Radio, Television and News Online with the ability to develop tri-media production skills. As you will be part of a small team you will also need to have the ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
