Communication Assistant


The Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO) is a Development Finance Institution (DFI) established in 2001 in the framework of the Belgian Development Cooperation to support private sector growth in developing and emerging countries. BIO finances the financial sector, enterprises and private infrastructure projects. Endowed with capital worth EUR 581,5 million, BIO provides tailored long-term financial products (equity, quasi-equity, debt and guarantees) and finances technical assistance programmes and feasibility studies. BIO also encourages its business partners to implement environmental, social and governance standards. BIO operates as an additional partner to the traditional financial institutions and looks for projects with a balance between return on investment and development impact.

For the BIO’s Communication and Promotion department, BIO is looking for a trilingual Communication Assistant (m/f) in Brussels.
Function

As a Communication Assistant, your mission is to:
  • Contribute to the image and reputation building of BIO among its stakeholdersS
  • Support BIO’s communication strategy and actions
You will report to the Communication and Promotion Officer.
Your main tasks are the following:
General responsibilities
  • Provide overall administrative support to the Communication Department
  • Provide timely and accurate information to external requests
  • Desk research and monitoring of "industry" and development news
Stakeholders relations
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder/media database
  • Media back-up
Internal communications: Internal communication supports
Production of material
  • Coordinate and participate in production of annual report
    • Support organisation of tender
    • Collect information internally and externally
    • Draft content & coordinate translations
    • Coordinate with agency
  • Website update and maintenance
    • Co-draft and coordinate translation of communication materials : Press releases, Newsletter, Press file, Web-site content, Case studies, Annual report
Events: Participate in the organisation of events

Profile

  • You have a Bachelor in Communication, Languages, Marketing…
  • You have excellent writing and editing skills
  • You are fluent in French, Dutch, English (Spanish is an advantage)
  • You have a first experience (2/3 years) in Corporate Communication and/or Public Affairs is an asset
  • You are Result-driven, pro-active, creative, team player
  • You are interested in development sector and in development finance
