Description 
The GSMA Strategy Office has developed a Market Segmentation Framework which classifies the international mobile industry in to four segments according to market advancement (key indicators used include 3G/4G penetration, smartphone penetration and % of revenue from data). We are recruiting one Market Strategist for each segment: Segment 1: East Asia, USA, Nordics, Australasia Segment 2: Western Europe Segment 3: Brazil, Russia, China, S. Africa, Middle East, C&S America, SE Asia, E. Europe Segment 4: Africa, South Asia Reporting to the Head of Industry Strategy and within a highly focused and effective team, your role will be to develop the mobile industry vision and strategic priorities for your market segment of focus. Being strongly strategic and business-oriented, your key activities will be to: • Keep well-informed of industry movements and identify areas of immediate opportunities or risk in the market segment, in both mobile and adjacent industries • Work with external stakeholders and wider GSMA organisation to understand the immediate priorities for the market segment, and build strategic plans of activity to address these, including identifying the strategic outcomes and success criteria • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to refine and obtain support for GSMA’s segment and overall strategy, and active participation in initiatives • Ensure that the market segment priorities are reflected in annual GSMA Business Plans and other planning activities • Communicate the segment’s strategic priorities to internal and external stakeholders, including C-level executives 

Criteria 
Criteria for Selection These are senior roles and require individuals with a strategic mind, excellent industry knowledge and ability to communicate complex topics effectively. In particular: • Strategic - a strategic understanding of the telecoms industry and areas of immediate opportunity or concern for mobile operators. • Business oriented – an innovative mind and able to translate ideas in to viable business opportunities • Market Knowledge - a strong background and work experience in the market segment, with significant segment knowledge. • Analytical - strong analytical skills and able to use sound methodologies to analyse industry forecasts and ascertain the most strategic elements of a complex industry. • Relationship focused - a relationship builder, able to represent the GSMA and engage with a wide range of industry stakeholders and partners. • International - experience in working in an international environment and with geographically dispersed teams. Willingness to travel on an international basis. • Language – able to speak English and Chinese • Collaborative – able to effectively work with stakeholders across the wider mobile industry to produce the best outcomes. • Highly professional –comfortable interacting with internal and external stakeholders, including senior C-level executives
