3C Processing Project Leader


Description:
Manage and administer seismic data processing projects to maximize production quantity and efficiency, minimizing turnaround time and optimizing product quality.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain good client relations, at all times, and ensure that group processing meets client and company specifications with regard to data quality and turnaround schedule
  • Ensure that all necessary testing is performed accurately and results are presented clearly with improvement recommendations made where appropriate
  • Produce accurate forecasts and reports, as required, of project finances, status and resource requirements
  • Manage and be accountable for all group activities and personnel movements
  • Design efficient processing sequences and testing flows. In collaboration with Area Geophysicists and ‘best practices’, ensure compliance with all Service Quality initiatives
  • Provide accurate forecasts and reports, as required, status and resource requirements associated with the project to team manager
  • Liaise closely with technical support groups involved in project tasks to ensure that quality and turnaround targets are maintained
  • Ensure the smooth running of the Project on a daily basis. This includes planning, organizing and delegating required work including unexpected and planned absences
  • Perform relevant staff reviews quarterly and at end of project
  • Keep abreast of developments within Seismic Data Processing, Communication/Data transfer techniques and up to date with Company Geophysical Software
  • Assist staff with ‘on-the-job’ training and ensure adequate training opportunities
  • Organize post-project review with management staff
  • Provide assistance, through guidance and counseling, to less experienced Project Leaders without assuming responsibility for their projects.
Qualificiations:
  • BSc Geophysics, Geology, Physics, Mathematics or similar scientific qualification 
  • Minimum 5 years hands on experience of processing 3D marine and Land seismic data. Proven track record/experience in processing Land (3C) and/or OBS (4C) multi-component projects. (min. 3 years)
  • Strong grasp of geophysical and geological principles. Good knowledge of signal processing, demultiple, imaging, etc.
  • Team work on projects from across the region
  • Reputation for thoroughness, patience and organizational ability.
  • An advanced understanding of shear and converted-wave properties and pre-stack migration theory and practice
  • Demonstration of supervisory skills and confidence interacting with oil company clients
  • Proven ability and experience in problem solving.
  • The ability to work to deadlines and complete projects successfully
  • Previous exposure to multi-component interpretation or inversion a significant advantage.
