In order to mine Iron Ore in a location as remote as the Pilbara, we first have to provide utilities such as electricity, water and hydrocarbons. Our Utilities division services 14 mines, five towns, three ports and associated rail network, with major power system expansion, upgrade and replacement works currently underway.
 
Reporting to the Supervisor Network Services, you will be performing scheduled maintenance and improvements on the Rio Tinto Iron Ore transmission as well as power and waste water distribution network. You will also be building relationship with stakeholders that will strengthen and sustain Rio Tinto's competitive advantage.
 
Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Implementing effective maintenance practices to the plant and equipment in critical areas of the operation
  • Ensuring timely and cost effective repairs with minimal down time
  • Maintaining the electrical transmission and distribution network across the Pilbara region
  • Performing all duties in accordance with Rio Tinto Health, Safety and Environmental standards
  • Ensuring compliance with Rio Tinto Iron Ore policy, state and federal legislation
  • Fostering a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement.
You will possess an Electrical trade qualification along with Western Australia Electrical licence. You will hold a current "C" class, Heavy Rigid driver's licence and High Voltage Switching ticket. Additionally, your experience in power station distribution and electrical control systems will be essential for this role.
