Department

Audio & Music Interactive is part of BBC Radio responsible for the digital development of the radio networks’ content and brands on a range of new media platforms. We pioneer and deliver audience-facing services online, on Red Button, DTV, DAB and in social media spaces. Radio 3 interactive is the team responsible for digital and online content for Radio 3 (the BBC’s arts, culture and classical music station), The Proms (the BBC’s huge annual classical music festival) and the BBC Performing Groups (the corporation’s orchestras and choir). The team builds and maintains online content and works with production colleagues to keep programme web pages up-to-date and useful to users.

Role

This role combines three months of cover for a Content Producer who is on attachment (April-June 2013) and three months of work supporting the teams online Proms work (July-September 2013).

The post-holder will work with the Interactive Editor and stakeholders at Radio 3 and The Proms to keep the Radio 3 web site fresh and up-to-date. The role also includes providing general support for the network’s interactive needs in an environment where programme teams have a wide range of interactive skills and experience.

Requirements

You will need to have an interest in the relevant content area. Awareness and knowledge of Classical, Jazz, World Music, Arts & Culture in general is desirable. Good written communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as day-to-day communication with stakeholders at all levels at the BBC is an important part of the role. A demonstrable interest and awareness of digital technologies changing the media, broadcasting and audience trends both inside and outside the BBC is also required.  You will need web production experience in a working environment and an understanding of digital audio and video production would be useful.
