NATO JOBS MARCH 2013


The NATO Secretary General is looking to recruit principal officials (m/f) for his most senior management team to be his primary advisors in the following areas:
• Political Affairs and Security Policy (ref. U 01(2013), post of ASG/PASP)
• Defence Policy and Planning (ref. U 02(2013), post of ASG/DPP)
• Defence Investment (ref. U 03(2013), post of ASG/DI)
• Executive Management (ref. U 04(2013), post of ASG/EM)
• Emerging Security Challenges (ref. U 05(2013), post of ASG/ESC)
There are 7 Assistant Secretaries General, all of whom report to the NATO Secretary General and are also accountable to the North Atlantic Council. As a member of the Secretary General’s senior management team, each Assistant Secretary General is also expected to contribute to overall policy development and delivery, including in areas beyond their direct set of responsibilities.
Candidates for these individual positions must be able to demonstrate the following: • a proven track record of experience in progressively senior posts in one of the subject areas mentioned above; • recent experience in senior-level leadership positions and significant professional experience in managerial positions (attracting and developing staff, monitoring performance and fostering continual improvement); • experience facilitating high-level dialogue and consensus; • proven leadership in leading and transforming organisations; • experience of working in a multilateral environment with multiple stakeholders from multi-cultural backgrounds; • fluency in one of the two official languages (English/French) of the Organization with a good working knowledge of the other.
Selection of candidates for NATO posts is based upon the merit principle.

Only those candidates who meet the specific requirements and whose applications pass the initial  creening will receive a reply. Short-listed candidates will be required to undergo an external assessment, after which a number of candidates will be called for final testing and interview at NATO Headquarters (Brussels). The selection procedures are expected to take place in April 2013.
