5live is radio’s 24-hour news and sport station, committed to coverage of live events and to engaging new and diverse audiences to its non-metropolitan agenda. Often there are decisions to be made at very short notice under intense pressure as to how to deal with breaking news. There are also challenges in ensuring 5live maintains its reputation for its informal style and high levels of interactivity, whilst taking news seriously. 5live plays an important role in helping the BBC work towards creating an informed citizenship and will be seeking ways to work with other areas of radio news in order to be more efficient without jeopardising its unique sound.   

Role

 
You will work in the Radio Sport department assisting in the production of sport programmes for 5live Sport and other radio outlets. The role will often be unsupervised and therefore will require a large degree of initiative and high degree of editorial judgement, journalism and production knowledge.

Requirements

 
You will need to have experience of working in radio production and be able to demonstrate strong editorial judgement and solid journalistic skills. You should also have a passion for sport and be able to write quickly, accurately and succinctly. Experience of how to find and generate sports journalism stories is also essential.
