Assistant Case File Officer , Leidschendam


Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term appointment of one year duration limited to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). This appointment and any subsequent extension(s) are subject to terms of the Tribunal’s mandate and/or the availability of funds. The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a UN organization. However, STL follows the UN common system for benefits and entitlements to its staff members. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent works under the overall supervision of the Legal Officer on Judicial Matters, directly reporting to the Legal Officer (Courtroom Coordinator) and in close cooperation with the Senior Court Records Assistants. The incumbent of this post is mainly in charge of the following functions:
• Approves along with the Legal Officer on Judicial Matter, Legal Officer/Courtroom Coordinator and Associate Court Officer the distribution of filings processed by the Court Records Assistants; • Review SOPs and policies in use by the Court Records Office and suggest improvements necessary to optimise the work of the Office; • Provide various statistical reports on the activities of the Judicial Services Unit and as required by the Legal Officer on Judicial Matters; • Assist the Legal Officer on Judicial Matters, with all administrative tasks linked to the proper service of judicial documents; • Oversee the work of the court records office; • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: University degree, in a relevant related subject such as Law, International Relations or Political Science.
Work Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience, of which at least one gained at an International Court/Tribunal.
Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post proficiency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of French and/or Arabic is an asset.
Other: Experience in the development and use of case management databases will be considered as an asset. Good understanding of case management and judicial records management.
