Middle East programme officer, Economic and social rights

Christian Aid is now looking to recruit an innovative and dynamic programme officer for our Economic and Social Rights programme in the Middle East.
Christian Aid is working together with our partners in the Middle East to enable marginalised groups to claim their economic and social rights. The programme has a strong rights base, focusing on enabling people to gain control over their lives and to influence the decisions that affect their lives.
Working together with our partners from across the Middle East (including Egypt, Lebanon, Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory) you will help support the implementation of an innovative and effective programme which results in significant impact on the lives of people living in poverty. You will support our partners in the region to develop effective approaches to build uphold their economic and social rights- such as labour standards- in their contexts and support them to demonstrate and communicate the change that results.
You have a proven track record in implementing successful development programmes and delivering gender-focused approaches. Given your strong analytical skills, you will have an understanding of the drivers of poverty and its eradication in the Middle East context. You will have a commitment to working in partnership with civil society and church-based/ecumenical organisations and supporting the capacity development of partner organisations.
A strategic thinker, you have a strong track record in bringing innovative approaches to development programmes in rapidly changing contexts. You will have the drive and initiative to implement effective projects and programmes and the knowledge of participatory monitoring and impact assessment that will enable you to support our partners to effectively demonstrate the change that results.
With well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, you’ll have a proven ability to communicate with different audiences. Fluent English is required and a working knowledge of Arabic preferred.
