In Global Sourcing, these objectives are achieved through a global centralized category management model via a central procurement in Singapore supported by regional/local teams. The primary purpose of Rio Tinto Procurement (Singapore) Pte Ltd is to leverage our global position in relevant markets for commercial and strategic advantage to Rio Tinto operations. Value is delivered through optimised commercial terms, pricing and supply security as well as through development and replication of supplier strategic initiatives through a few deep relationships. 

 

We are currently seeking for a Principal Cathodes, Electrodes and Anthracite, Global Sourcing to join our Singapore team. The primary purpose of the Principal role is to manage global category strategy and sourcing program development and deployment by providing rigorous fact based development for the category, strategy development, pricing forecasting, development and finalisation of RFx documentation, leading negotiations to achieve supplier selection, management and application of price and commercial performance mechanisms throughout the contract term and supplier performance management all within a global scope to deliver sustained value and competitive advantage to the Rio Tinto Group and its operating business.

 

The incumbent must have:

·         Bachelor Degree in a commercial or financial discipline

·         Extensive knowledge of worldwide Category markets and mining operations

·         Strong commercial acumen and negotiation expertise

·         Effective time management and personal organisational skills

·         Ability to develop analytical modeling tools and translate findings to meaningful management information

·         Strong problem solving, strategic and analytical capability

·         Ability to formulate and present compelling strategies and business cases

·         Ability to achieve outcomes through influence and collaboration with others

·         Working knowledge of commercial legal contracts in some or all key supplier locations eg. Asia, Australia, Europe, US and Canada

·         Excellent written and spoken English essential

·         Ability in other European or Asian languages desirable
