The Academy of European Law is the leading partner of the European institutions, national administrations and professional associations in continuing professional training in European law.
ERA’s working languages are English, French and German. Its headquarters are in the city of Trier in Germany, about 50 km from Luxembourg.
We are looking for a new member of our team from 1 June 2013 till 30 April 2014 (maternity cover) with a relevant academic or professional background 
and with excellent networking skills, a sound understanding of European law and the European institutions. A university degree in law, political science or another relevant discipline, and professional experience in dealing with European institutions or programmes will be essential.
The tasks of ERA’s Brussels Representative are:
  • Representation: maintaining and developing ERA’s network of contacts at the level of EU institutions, member state representations, associations, law firms and companies;
  • Monitoring: s/he plays a key role in the acquisition of tenders and contract activities and will also assist in attracting sponsorship and fundraising;
  • Event organisation, notably “ERA Briefings” (short-notice seminars on emerging developments in EU law) and promotional events such as ERA’s annual reception;
  • Administration of ERA’s Brussels office on Rue Belliard and provision of logistical support to Trier-based staff organising events in Brussels.
The Brussels Representative will report to the Deputy Director (Corporate Communications) and to the Management Board of the Academy. S/He will work closely with ERA’s lawyers and colleagues from the communications team and other ERA departments. Regular meetings in Brussels and Trier will guarantee a constant flow of communication. The post will begin with an intensive internship at the ERA headquarters in Trier.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, have excellent networking skills and great team spirit. Flexibility will be crucial as far as working hours and travelling are concerned. S/He will be fluent in at least English and French. Native English speakers are particularly encouraged to apply.
