Children in Emergencies Psychosocial Specialist , Jordan

Use your experience in social work and working in emergency high risk situations and be part of a leading organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children living in poverty. The two-year conflict in Syria has forced millions of people to leave their homes, thousands of whom have entered Jordan. The government of Jordan currently estimates that there are 420,000 Syrians in the country (only 373,138 are registered or awaiting registration with UNHCR. Due to needs on the ground, in March 2013, the Government announced that a new refugee camp (Azraq) will be established near Azraq town, 100 km east of Amman. UNHCR has prepared an initial site plan, which provides services for 110,000 refugees in 10 ‘villages’ spread over four phases. World Vision has been asked by UNICEF to provide child protection and children in emergencies services to the whole camp. This role will play a critical part in managing and shaping these services to an eventual refugee population of about 100,000 people.
The Children in Emergencies Psychosocial Specialist will Coach /mentor /manage case workers and social workers (Delegation of authority/ responsibility with clear standards of accountability
SOME RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Based on the context of Syrian Crisis in Jordan, adapt Mental Health and Psycho Social specialist (MHPSS) training modules (including Psychosocial First Aid).
• Conduct training for Children In Emergencies (CIE) staff, partner agencies and volunteers for Child Friendly Spaces (CFS and Adolescent Friendly Spaces (AFS (training report will be required at the end of assignment).
• Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture.
REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
• Master's degree or equivalent in a sociological or health-related field or substantial field/practical experience working with children in emergency situations.
• Good command of English, both written and oral.
• Willing to travel within Jordan with a valid driver’s license
• Ability to work in difficult and high risk situations.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Humanitarian Emergency work, with significant experience in integrating children’s issues across sectors.
• Familiarity with child exploitation issues, emergency relief, the UN CRC and the field of child protection.
• Experience in project implementation, monitoring and report writing.
