CONSULTANCY Oslo Development Consultant

Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking highly-qualified applicants for the position of Consultant to collaborate with HRW in the development and implementation of a fundraising strategy for Oslo.
Consultancy Terms:
1. Advise the Deputy Director and the Oslo Circle of Friends on the implementation of the strategy for fundraising locally and among the Norwegian Diaspora;
2. Manage the implementation of the Oslo Annual Dinner for Spring 2014;
3. Collaborate with the Oslo Circle of Friends to implement two to three cultivation events between April 2013 and February 2014;
4. Collaborate with the Oslo circle of friends to try to create and implement a fundraising event in Autumn 2013;
5. Collaborate with and advise the Deputy Director on the management and implementation of HRW’s major gift, foundations and corporate fundraising in Oslo and the Norwegian Diaspora;
6. Promote HRW’s vision and message to the community;
7. Manage a communication strategy and calendar of activities to include electronic information, meetings and briefings;
8. Develop partnerships with local organisations to raise awareness of human rights and the work of HRW; and
9. Raise at least $700k over a twelve month period.
Contract Duration: 12 months
Qualifications:
Education: An undergraduate degree in a related field is required. An advanced degree is highly desirable.
Experience: Prior event production experience is required.
Related Skills and Knowledge:
1. Strong interpersonal skills are required.
2. Creativity, initiative, self-motivation, follow-through and excellent organizational skills are required.
3. Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and handle numerous tasks simultaneously.
4. Strong oral and written language skills in both English and Norwegian are required.
