Development Intern

Job description JOB SUMMARY:
The Development Intern will provide the development team with research on donors to help build a pool of new prospects. She/he will also research the international philanthropic landscape and benefits to donors especially in the United Kingdom and other key counties.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Carrying out research on individual and institutional donors.
Researching foreign/UK registration; what benefits are available for donors, what philanthropy looks like in UK or other target foreign countries
Creating a process for documenting and identifying the potential funding opportunities that would be relevant for grantee partners.
Possible short writing/donor collateral opportunities, story gathering, and developing new stories for the website to highlight our donors.


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal Relationships
Reports to the Director of Donor Services; Close working relationship with the Grant Writing and Research Manager, and working relationships within the Development Team and across staff.
Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Required
Ability to conduct research – Internet, databases, etc
Some understanding of human rights and women’s empowerment
Analytical skills


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (in process, incoming junior or senior).
Some work or volunteer experience, preferably in non-profit organization or campus organizations.
Experience working in a diverse and fast-paced environment.


START DATE AND COMPENSATION:
This is an unpaid 2 month position during mid June to mid August.
