Job description JOB SUMMARY:
The Program Intern provides the Asia Pacific (AP) Program Team with support on researching topical issues in the region and identifying trends in the women’s movement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
• Input and update grantee information in GFW’s grant-making database.
• Work on specific projects and conduct independent research as assigned.
• Research and present a final project on an issue/topic that will add to the AP team’s strategic analysis
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to and the under direct supervision the Program Director, AP; working relationships with other members of the staff as necessary.
Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of the human rights trends in the region
• Interest in women's rights in the region
• Knowledge of the economic, political, social and cultural trends in the region
• Good working knowledge of the region via previous work, study, or living experience
• Strong writing, research and analytical skills
• Ability to coordinate and manage complex tasks
• Creative problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Ability to interact with staff at all levels of the organization
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop solid working relationships
• Demonstrate sensitivity and appreciation for diverse viewpoints and different communication styles in a politically and culturally diverse environment.
• Able to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment, exhibiting flexibility
• Strong skills in a Macintosh and/or PC environment, and in using MS Office and database programs
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree (in process, incoming junior or senior).
• Some work or volunteer experience, preferably in non-profit organization.
• Experience in working in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
START DATE AND COMPENSATION:
This is an unpaid 2 month position during Mid June to Mid August.
