Institute of Southeast Asian Studies Visiting Fellowship


Applications are invited for a Visiting Fellowship with a focus on macroeconomic and/or trade issues in Southeast Asia.
Requirements
Research Focus and Experience on Southeast Asia

  • PhD in Economics (Macroeconomics/International Trade/International Finance/Public Policy).  Candidates whose Ph.D. dissertations have been formally submitted may also apply.
  •  In-depth knowledge of at least one major Southeast Asian economy, comparative research on two or more countries would be desirable
  • Experience in policy-oriented research. Work experience and/or internships in government, international organizations, or research institutes is highly desirable
  • Publications of a policy-oriented nature, including working papers, book chapters, or journal articles.
Personal Attributes
  • A high level of integrity and work ethic
  • Well-developed communications, networking and interpersonal skills. Fluent English is required, working knowledge of a Southeast Asian language is desirable
  • Work experience in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Commitment to teamwork by supporting and contributing to the work of others.
Additional Skills
  • Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of statistical software packages desirable
Primary Responsibilities
  • Monitor trends on macroeconomic issues in the country/ies of specialization, and Southeast Asia more broadly
  • With general direction, undertake analytical and/or quantitative policy-relevant research
  •  Publish findings in a range of outlets including ISEAS books and working papers, as well as academic journals
  • Organize seminars and conferences on policy-relevant issues
  • Contribute to ISEAS collective research efforts
