SMEC has been operating in New Zealand since October 2011, largely in the Hydropower and Energy sector, working on both New Zealand and international projects. For our next step we are looking to diversify our services into the New Zealand market and achieve significant growth in our Auckland office, based in Newmarket.
The Role
SMEC NZ is currently seeking a Junior / Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to help support our current workload in the Hydropower and Energy sector. The role covers all stages of the project process from procurement and project management through to field investigation, analysis and reporting, and offers the successful candidate with an interesting and diverse workload.
Suitable applicants will have:
·  A relevant tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering
·  Excellent communication skills
·  A working knowledge of analysis software
·  A co-operative and flexible working style; working with close-knit multi-disciplinary teams
·  An ability to travel to site when necessary
·  Motivation and enthusiasm
·  While not essential, experience in the hydropower and / or energy sector would be advantageous.
