British Airways is looking for a Channel Editor with creative flair and excellent writing ability to help deliver the airline’s internal communications channel strategy.
 
You’ll work collaboratively with and support a number of people within the business, from campaign and account managers to project owners and directors. You will help create, develop and manage the production of content for online, print, digital and social media platforms to inform and engage colleagues.

About the day to day

  • The role involves sourcing news to convey messages and spark discussion with colleagues through our internal communications channels
  • You will be responsible for writing and creating engaging content in columns, monthly messages, blogs postings and much more, to be used across a range of channels
  • You will need to act as managing editor for local publications, and as an expert source of writing, publishing and channel development and go-to point for campaign, account and management teams
  • Work with communications account teams and campaigns team to write senior leader messages for company wide and directorates specific channels
  • Use your understanding of publishing, design, photography and info-graphics to create engaging local publications, working with the communication account managers Align communication in directorate publications to the departmental objectives and translate messages and stories to become relevant to difference audiences
  • Develop new tools to improve online communication
  • Understand how to use video and digital media, and support content and production
  • Develop online presence for directorate publications with extra material and interaction opportunities
  • Update and publish intranet content, including company news, industry news and the weekly ezine, Up to Date, plus directorate channels as required
  • Write for company wide and directorate specific communication projects and issues, including financial results, campaigns, directorate projects and messages
  • Participates in cross-functional working groups on various projects, including technology, social media and ba.com teams
  • Undertakes readership surveys and considers ways to improve channels

About you

  • You’ll need to write to a high standard and have proven experience of delivering well written and creative communication material
  • You will need a good understanding of engaging audiences within the different channels
  • You’ll have a good understanding of publishing, design, photography, info-graphics and video production
  • We’re looking for someone to participate in cross-functional working groups on projects involving technology and social media – someone who will strengthen our online presence internally and contribute to driving our internal communications strategy forwards
  • Have worked in a communications dept, newspaper, magazine or PR agency
  • Experience of planning content and publications of publications and online channels
  • Can handle a high workload and effectively managing more than one task
  • Flexible and adaptable, with core communication skills (writing, planning, creative thinking)
  • Tact and discretion to handle price sensitive or highly confidential information
  • Proven editorial experience
