About us
ODI (www.odi.org.uk) aims to inspire and inform policy and practice to reduce poverty by locking together high-quality applied research and practical policy advice. ODI is conducting a multi-year project to build and communicate evidence for ‘Development Progress’. Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the project started in June 2011 and extends to 2015. The project aims to understand, measure and communicate what has worked in development and why by examining progress across countries and within sectors. Recent project highlights include: • initial analysis of the different methods for measuring progress, with a comparison of development performance in East Asia and sub-Saharan Africa • research underway on 25 country case-studies of progress, including pilots to explore maternal health in Nepal and post-primary education in Mongolia • a series of blogs, working papers and events highlighting progress in education, employment and global Aid for Trade. Our Project and Communications Assistant will provide communications support for Development Progress in publication production, event coordination and other activities as outlined in the Communications and Outreach strategy. In addition, this role will provide project and financial support to the team as required.
You will have experience in communications, coordinating events and budget - monitoring. You will have excellent organisational, numerical and administrative skills, confident communication skills at all levels, and the ability to prioritise and juggle a variety of tasks, working under pressure and to deadline. A degree qualification would be advantageous.
