Lecturer in Offshore Renewable Energy; Offshore Reliability, Numerical Fluid dynamics or Oceanography

The College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences is active in internationally recognised research across the disciplines, advancing knowledge in established fields, such as astrophysics and pure mathematics, alongside novel developments in emerging areas such as graphene applications, additive layer manufacturing and renewable energy.
The successful applicant will join a strong research group in Offshore Renewable Energy with extensive physical and computational facilities and excellent support staff, part of the Renewable Energy group within the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Science, based at the Tremough Campus, Cornwall. The group has considerable success with research income, is a core member of Supergen-UKCMER and the doctoral training centre IDCORE, and has an excellent international network of academic and industrial partners.
To further strengthen our activities in Offshore Renewable Energy we are seeking to make an appointment at Senior Lecturer or Lecturer grade with a particular academic interest in:
  • Numerical Fluid dynamics/Hydrodynamics
  • Oceanography/Resource modelling
and/or
  • Offshore Reliability
The exceptional applicants must be qualified to PhD level in fluid dynamics, oceanography or reliability engineering or a closely related discipline and be able to demonstrate a strong potential for research leadership with a strong track record in refereed publications, contribute to REF assessment and be experienced in submitting grant applications. Candidates should be active in an area of science and engineering and be able to demonstrate their research expertise in offshore renewable energy. Previous industrial experience and chartered status is also welcomed. Applicants at Senior Lecturer level will also have proven success in winning significant grants and the successful delivery of projects. 
The College delivers successful BSc & MEng programmes in Renewable Energy and it is expected that the successful candidate will also provide a strong contribution to the development of these courses, and to post-graduate supervision and teaching.
Appointments will be made within the salary range £32,267 to £36,298 in grade F for Lecturers or £39,649 to £45,941 in grade G for Senior Lecturers, depending on qualifications and experience.
